EMI Gaskets Choices

At NEDC Fabricating Solutions we recognize the diverse choices with regard to EMI shielding. When dealing with products such as automotive or medical electronics, telecommunication equipment, avionics, or general computers it is important to choose the most effective EMI shielding gaskets. Three choices or options include conductive foam over fabric, conductive elastomers, or beryllium-copper strips (finger stock). To distinguish between the three, one needs to decide the detail of the forms, environmental protection, and the differing EMI protection.
Fabric over foam is generally the choice when the productive profile is not too intricate, mechanical durability is of low demand, and there is no need for an environmental seal. Elastomers provide a broad spectrum of attenuation capabilities as well as being efficient in relation to environmental and moisture sealing. One would opt for BeCu strips when there is a strong need for mechanical durability primarily in relation to frequent direct compression and shearing forces. Whatever your material or design needs may be, NEDC’s twenty five years of experience in the die cutting industry as well as the expertise of our engineers will welcome the opportunity of helping you through all your EMI shielding needs.
