Microwave Absorbers

There has been a marked increase in the use of microwave electronics in the military sector within the last several decades. Because of this trend there has also been a paralleled increase in potential RF interference. The release of RF interference can and often results in among other things wrong targeting, lowered operating efficiency, and limiting operating capabilities. With the use of microwave absorbing materials such issues can be eliminated or sharply reduced to allow more improved system performance. Microwave absorbers (RAM) are materials specifically designed to attenuate or absorb microwave energy. RAM’s are designed to convert absorbed energy to heat. Because there has been an increase in the use of military electronics, most notably microwave electronics with resultant increases in RF interference, microwave absorbing materials are continually being upgraded, developed, and re-designed to meet the increasing demands of not only the military but the commercial sector as well. At NEDC Fabricating Solutions we continue to strive to keep pace with all the advances in microwave absorbers and shielding capabilities.
